In Unit Water Shut-Offs

Posted By on May 7, 2021

Each unit has two main water shut-off valves; hot and cold located at the water submeters either above the kitchen cabinets or in the living room/dining room linen closet attached to the ceiling.

Some key points to note:

The valves allow Owners to make plumbing repairs in the unit without having to shut off water to the entire building.

If the Unit will be vacant over 24 hours, the unit water should be turned off to reduce liability.

Exercise caution when turning the valve on or off. If the main water shut off valves for your unit cannot be shut off, a building shutdown might be necessary.

Except in cases of emergencies demanding immediate attention, building shutdowns must be coordinated with Management at least 72 hours in advance (for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays between 8am and 3pm).

Owners/Renters should exercise the valves every 6 months to prevent them from locking in place. Exercising them is also good practice to prepare for emergency in unit leak events.
