Important Reminder: Proper Usage of Plumbing and Appliances
Posted By mcooper on September 8, 2025
We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone about the proper usage of our apartment’s plumbing systems and appliances, specifically the garbage disposal and dishwasher.
Garbage Disposal: It is important to remember that the garbage disposal is intended for light residues left on your dishware. Please refrain from putting fibrous vegetables, potato skins, eggshells, or any similar items down the garbage disposal. These materials can damage the disposal and clog the plumbing.
Plumbing Use: Please be mindful of what you flush down the toilet. Items such as tampons, sanitary napkins, paper towels, excessive toilet paper, and moist towelettes should never be flushed. If you use flushable wipes, please ensure the package does say “flushable” and limit to one per flush.
Dishwasher Usage: Prior to placing dishes in the dishwasher, please remove all food and dispose of it in the trash can. Any remaining light residues should be rinsed off and the garbage disposal used (only for light food residues) before placing the dishes into the dishwasher. Clogging the drain line for the dishwasher can cause leaks and damage the appliance.
Remember, these practices don’t just benefit you and your individual unit but also contribute to the overall health of our communal plumbing system.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in maintaining a pleasant and functional living environment for all residents.
